Slain in the Spirit?

What's going on?

A Catholic woman told me that a priest had visited with the gift of healing recently, their church. After the Mass, the congregation were swarming to the altar as the priest's hands hung up the faithful to minister healing. The woman told me that people began to fall, when the priest touched and were met by ushers caught and gently laid on the carpet. She said there were bodies everywhere, and they had to step over people to receive, just to the priest's healing. touch Although she admitted that she called a "spiritual" presence meaning it could also had admitted that the whole thing a bit scary and more than a little confusing, so ask them why and was not some other, and close it something to do was the recipient's level of spirituality.

What's happening? What this woman described was the encounter with the phenomenon, called by its adherents "Slain in the Spirit," "Going down under the power" or "Rest inthe mind. "Often this experience with another recent phenomenon is accompanied," Holy laughter. "These events have now become standard fare in many denominations. Chances are, from the many participants in the recent series of this office on this issue, most have made either in America or Britain, you either witnessed in your own community or have it on Christian television shows.

Are these people "in flesh and blood" when they fall? If so, who determines that? If aAppointee selected to determine "meat" or "spirit", they are the same 'meat-o-meter "to determine who is" in spirit "when they dish on the offer? What about those who sang in the choir, praying, preaching, or even in the flesh? Who are we to say? After all, Sam 1 16.7 tells us: "You can see on the outside but God sees the heart."

The church should ask the hard questions and not put yourself in a position to defend against with me to our manyCritic: What's it all about? What does the Scripture say? If it is not biblical, it is then demonic in nature? If it is not a manifestation of God's power is their power displayed in these incidents? What is our individual responsibility as Christians?

Scripture provides the following warnings to the people of God:
1. John 4:1: "Do not believe every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world."

2. Timothy4:3-4: "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but after their own lusts they will heap to themselves teachers with itchy ears, and they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and be turned to fables. "

Although most of you reading this probably agree that inspires cults of demonic support false prophets, too many Christians are unwilling to a serious examination of the spirit of giving back to their own spiritual group. Notmention the lack of spiritual, too few of us are ready to assess the reasons why it seems to be completely issued no spiritual power in our own corner of the vineyard.

Author Mikhaiel Nader, in his book "Toronto Blessing:" Murder in the Spirit, the Telling Wonder, "presents us with the following problem:" What would your answer to the account of the following New York missionary? "In the years after 1800, were crippled, the lame and the blind"cured as in the days of old, by laying on of hands in the name of Jesus," under a New York missionary ministry. Healing recipients, praising God, fell ill friends and neighbors gather to heal, too. See the wonder raged converts baptized, and join the church ... a Mormon missionary.

A Mormon? Did you know that the central doctrine of the Mormons are completely unbiblical? But if the statement were in many churches today, we wouldbe sure to praise a lot of attention to ever hear! People who are doing God rod of Moses into a serpent, and the Egyptian magicians same. The devil is still forged with the same old tricks. Satan is a master deceiver and the father of lies. We need more savvy Saints and beware of the false signs and wonders, with Scripture as our guide.

There never was an orderly movement of God so we should not expect that in the foreseeable future. We should not call evil good and good evil. We mustnot "kill" everything that we understand it either. Many are convinced that killed the "" is demonic phenomenon. The fact is that whatever spiritual gifts are not seen as demonic by some people. On the other hand, there are Christians who want to believe in demons! Satan loves that! Is slain "phenomenon will not affect the unity of the Body of Christ? Are we willing to kill for assessing the "phenomenon" according to Scripture and remain objective? While some believe that God does notmore signs and miracles to accept that is another little goose bumps, a giggle or an "honor God throw?" as manna from heaven.

Years ago I was asked to visit Kentucky to see if God might call me to pastor a church there *. A friend had won more than sixty people to Christ in a short time, and they met at his residence and desiring leadership.

The city was the place where America's Second Great Awakening began in 1799. The camp revivals that took placein those days caused quite a stir. Their presence, was up to 15,000 in Cane Ridge, Kentucky in 1801, unbelievably, given the sparse population of the state at this time. "The emotional stress caused by ... fully tears, screams, shouts," no little controversy. In "The Cane Ridge Meeting House, 1910 written by James R. Rogers, who wrote:" The meetings are often witness to scenes of astonishing phenomena. Shaking, jerking, yelling, and catatonic (death were-like) states on the agenda.Laughter, barking like dogs and spasms often faced with great conviction and conversion ...." This "emotional excesses," as some called them, also played a role in spawning some new names, splinter groups and even cults.

To date, there can be found in the area of small towns filled with too many small, mostly empty churches, and in this particular city, as we passed the local law enforcement officer, a per-capita crime, the rival Los Angeles. The highSchool was a big problem with teen pregnancy, but was quite proud of the new day care center she had built for the infants of mothers tend to their young. In other words, many of the religion with no impact on society. But it is estimated that over 10,000 people were swept in Kentucky Churches alone between 1800-1803, more than the revival of the nationwide distribution of its Kentucky home. The camp meetings became more organized and eventually became regarded as a legitimate meansfor the mass production of evangelism. These meetings laid the groundwork for the Protestant church meetings from now on so many new traditions have been birthed. What many refer to the "Old Time Religion" is actually quite new in the light of the 2000-year history of Christianity.

I've learned that when I go to a new region, the best place to be seen, which might be of territorial spirits in service to go to the local library. Much can be learned through the study of history. TheAmerican frontier camp renewals were slain in the "" phenomena, and other unorthodox behavior known. For example:

Some "beaten" unconscious people were "reports" have deprived of their clothing or exhibited lewd behavior.
Special Strip discourage wanton activities around the camp at night scopes.

Some of these "virtual" people writhed slain barked and howled.

Azusa Street meetings (California, 1908) also had problems with the media and trustLiquor controlling church meetings (I have this happened to me - yes, Satan wants the church religiously.!).

A contemporary movement already mentioned, the "Toronto Blessing", which issued some of these manifestations. The Toronto Blessing is still repressed in Toronto Vineyard Church, which was actually from the community by the Vineyard leadership in 1995. It was the product of the South African evangelist Rodney Howard-Browne Ministry. His "laughing revival"contain infectious laughter, spasms, "Resting in the Spirit", and even animal-like noises.

I went to a Howard-Browne earliest revivals in a church in downtown Fort Worth, Texas (a church, which was later destroyed by a freak "city" twin tornado, incidentally). Participation in these meetings was to do the "thing" that was then. What kind of a distraction from the Great Commission! As Howard-Browne preached, people began around the crowded sanctuary to giggle. He preached without hesitationas some began to laugh hysterically and fall to the ground. The noise was so loud and distracting that it was impossible to everything the man said concentrate. Over time he began with his hands thrust on people, as for the position in the queue. Then they fell.

In fact, I decided to jump in and start "catching" them, and in an attempt to protect them from injury (during the years I have witnessed several people hit his head on the floor as she slipped through theUsher's outstretched hands and hit his head hard on the floor and hurt herself). The lines are formed, each going into the lobby in the halls, the classrooms, the kitchen. I "caught" so many people, I was soaked with sweat. Only a very few others helped me, as I recall, with the bulk of pressed into the ranks to get a quick pat on the head of Howard-Browne. When everything was over, I stood there, hands on hips, panting like a mule, sweating, in the midst of a sea of fallen humanity. They were shivering, laughing, relaxing. Only a few other ministers remained together with Howard-Browne and his entourage.

Note the parallels between the events and those associated with the "shaktipat" the New Age gurus such as Swami Muktanada. "Shaktipat" as the "art of the Hindu supernatural power transfer from one person to another" is defined. Once Swami touched one of his followers, they would fall unconscious to the floor, shaking or laughing uncontrollably.

Hmmm. Were the people I was "catching" faked? If they were demonically influenced? Were they really killed "in spirit"? If so, how the Holy Spirit?

In his book Mikhaiel devotes more than a hundred pages to kill a comparison between hypnotically induced behavior and "behavior. After studying the phenomenon, he has some thought-provoking conclusions. Here they are with the right mouse button from his book:

Non-Christians can receive the Toronto Blessing remain unsaved.
The analysis is notconducive to experiencing the manifestations.
True prayer stops the manifestations.
The appeal to the blood of Jesus stops the manifestations.
Manifestations can cause people to get out of line with Scripture.
Manifestations "may cause (forgotten people to Jesus and to the manifestation)
Manifestations allow people to supernatural power without experiencing devotion to Jesus.

If his research right? He is entitled to a Christian, and some well-knownPeople have their efforts as appluaded is a much-needed eye-opener in a time of possible confusion. I can only vouch for my own research and experiences.

* The reason why I decided to Kentucky would accept the pastorate amaze you ... It surprised me! But I am not at liberty to elaborate at this time. Perhaps someday God will be my "go ahead." Suffice it to say that God was calling me a blatant, irrefutable miracles, spare me the agony of displacement and he let me see, there were some criticalThings in a very short time to some important species management. The evangelist, who had won so many souls, was later murdered. God is so faithful!

Personal Experience

I have killed me personally for a number of people who were apparently "" praying, as I laid my hands on them. On several occasions I was actually "power" from my body, creating a warm, tingling sensation in my forearms. In these cases, all service calls were altar in the church, were all female and none of themfell backwards. Some slumped forward, a violent shaking, and another held the middle and tumbled, while an "eye-catcher was" ready at the

On one occasion I can remember catching the people rather than to a charismatic service by a Scotsman. If all those who need the prayers were either back to their seats, went home and lay around on the floor, he looked at me and asked what I wanted from God. For a moment I felt like the scarecrow in "The Wizard of Oz asks for a brain. Iremember, "more wisdom ...," something I have often, in accordance with God's promise that he will give wisdom generously to all the prayers that ask him. But that night, after these words, in a moment I lay on my back, ten yards from where I started staring, sitting on the floor of one of the first row! A friend with whom I shared the story quipped, "Well, did you make wiser?" My answer? "I am a man, a one-finger typist, which now reaches thousands and thousands of peopleevery week from my computer when I get to them at a time or in much smaller groups, face to face. I would say that using wisdom! If nothing else, I am more efficient. "Seriously, it is the fear of the Lord, that is the beginning of wisdom. The word" fear "is a respectful and a reverence. I'm so much more in awe of Him with each passing day, perhaps the causes of my wisdom to increase accordingly. Perhaps it began on the night

Maybe not.
